U.S. Rep. Tom Price praised the selection of Rep. Paul D. Ryan as the likely vice-presidential nominee on the Republican ticket in the fall.

“I’ve known Paul for years. He is one of the most rigorous, principled, intelligent individuals I’ve ever met,” Price, R-Roswell, said after a luncheon appearance before the Sandy Springs Rotary Club on Aug. 13.

U.S. Rep. Tom Price, R-Roswell, speaks to the Sandy Springs Rotary Club on Aug. 13.

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney on Aug. 11 announced Ryan would be his choice for running mate.

Price, who represents Georgia’s Sixth District, which takes in areas in Sandy Springs, Dunwoody and Brookhaven, said the selection of Ryan would focus debate during the campaign on the federal budget.

Ryan, of Wisconsin, made his mark in the U.S. House by authoring a budget proposal that many Republicans have endorsed as an alternative to President Obama’s budget.

“He’s so sincere,” Price said. “I think the American people will see his sincerity. It just flows at you.”

Price told Rotary members he was excited about the coming election. “There are big choices before us and there are positive solutions [being offered],” he said.
