Heritage Sandy Springs Museum has scheduled four free lectures this summer on folk arts ranging from carving wood to making moonshine.
The “Power of Folk Art” lectures are planned in connection with the museum’s exhibit of carvings by Sandy Springs folk artist Moses Robinson, the museum said in a press release April 24. The exhibit of carvings by Robinson has been extended until April 2014, the museum said.
Scheduled to give talks on their folk crafts are: woodcarver Jerry Johnson on May 23; woodworker Chris Brooks on June 13; retired state Department of Natural Resources naturalist Bob Slack, who will talk about moonshine manufacture, on July 18; and musician Kathy Reed on Aug. 8.
