Authorities in North Carolina have arrested a man wanted in Sandy Springs in connection with the March 24  shooting of his ex-girlfriend, Sandy Springs police announced May 7.

Matthew Terry was taken into custody May 2 by agents of the U.S. Marshal’s Service and officers of the Wilmington, N.C., police department at an apartment complex in Wilmington, Sandy Springs police said in a press release. He was arrested “after briefly attempting to elude officers and agents,” Sandy Springs police said.

He is accused of shooting Shawn Crew multiple times. Police said she is recovering from her wounds.

Terry is jailed awaiting extradition to Georgia, police said in the release.
