The Atlanta Women’s Chorus, a member of the LGBTQ+ choral group Voices of Note, will host Pride and Purpose, an outreach event bringing queer and allied women together through art and fellowship, on May 9.
The free event, which will be hosted at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta, is held during Mother’s Day weekend as an opportunity to connect multiple generations of women.
The day starts at 1 p.m. with community tabling from community organizations working in domestic violence, voting access, reproductive health, and community wellness. Organizations in attendance include the Amani Women Center, Balance ABA, Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, League of Women Voters, and Women Engaged.

The event continues with the Atlanta premiere of “The Inquisitor” at 3 p.m. The documentary film follows the life of Barbara Jordan, the first Southern African American woman elected to the House of Representatives. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion connecting Jordan’s legacy to today’s ongoing fight for civil rights.
The evening closes out at 5:30 p.m. with a wine reception and a musical performance by a small group of Atlanta Women’s Chorus performers.
Pride and Purpose attendees will also enjoy food trucks and vendors, a guided art tour, family-friendly activities like a fire truck demo and puppet show, and live poetry by Mia S. Willis and Shay Alexi. The event is free, and tickets can be claimed on the Voices of Note website.
