One of Buckhead’s most storied restaurants now serves customers 24-hours a day.
The White House restaurant on June 6 launched its late-night service. Customers who enjoy the daytime menu will have access to a slightly scaled-back version of it, owner Tasso Costarides said.
“We are going to run with mainly breakfast, burgers and sandwiches,” he said.
Costarides, who also owns The Majestic Diner in Poncey-Highland, said the move makes sense for his company.
The White House has been in business since 1948 and moved to its current location on Peachtree Road in the 1970s.
It’s the go-to spot for many of Buckhead’s movers and shakers. Former Atlanta Mayor Sam Massell is a regular customer. Developers and politicians hash out deals over hash browns and eggs.
The coffee’s good. The fruit cups are bountiful. The prices are reasonable.
And will there be French toast during these late hours?
Costarides smiled and said, “Yes.”
The changes are generating a buzz among The White House regulars, he said.
“You know a lot of our regular customers are very excited about it and a lot of Buckhead night owls seem to be happy about it,” Costarides said.
