The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Homicide

2000 block of Lenox Road, NE – A homicide was reported on June 10. An officer was dispatched to check on residents because the caregiver could not get an answer at the door or on the phone.  The side door was breached. An 85-year-old woman was found non-responsive in her bed, in the master bedroom, with apparent stab wounds to her chest.  Her 87-year-old husband was found unconscious, next to the bed and nightstand, and was transported to Piedmont Hospital in very critical condition.  Both husband and wife had several medical issues, which called for 24-hour care.

Assault

1900 block of Piedmont Circle, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on June 2.  A man had two gunshot wounds in his chest and one in his right thigh.  A Smith & Wesson .40-caliber shell casing was found inside the nightclub, near the VIP section. The man was taken to Grady Hospital, where he was in stable condition.  A clear, plastic baggie containing 6.2 grams of marijuana was found in his right pants pocket. There were no witnesses to the incident and the man was not willing to speak about it.

2400 block of Coronet Way, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on June 3. The suspect used a bag of ice to hit the victim in the face.

600 block of Lindbergh Drive, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on June 3.  Two men assaulted the victim with a stun gun. Two witnesses confirmed that both men were seen attacking the victim. CID and an ID Tech came on the scene to take photos. A stun gun was recovered that matched a box found in one of the suspect’s backpacks.

2400 block of Coronet Way, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on June 6. The arrestee got into an altercation with a woman while she was walking back to her apartment. When she tried walking away from the man, he pulled out a long-barrel, black handgun and said, “I got something for you guys.”

2100 block of Piedmont Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on June 10.  The victim got into an argument with the suspect about owed money.  The suspect got into a fight with the victim and pulled out a knife. The suspect chased the victim with the knife, and would not let the victim leave the area. Security guards pinned the suspect down and took the knife away.

1800 block of Moores Mill Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on June 15.  The suspect pointed a pistol at his ex-girlfriend’s uncle and then kidnapped his ex-girlfriend.

Robbery

2100 block of Monroe Drive, NE – A robbery was reported on June 5. The suspects approached the victim in the parking lot of a gas station, asking the victim to purchase cigars. One suspect flirted with the victim while the victim was sitting in a 2004 Chevy, which had the keys in the ignition and the car running. The second suspect sat in the passenger side of the vehicle, also flirting with the victim. The first suspect pulled out a black pistol and ordered the victim out of the vehicle. The suspects drove off in the victim’s vehicle with a Toyota Camry following them.

2300 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on June 7.  A man approached the victim in the parking lot, pointed a black handgun in his face and demanded money from his hand and a pill bottle from his vehicle’s center console. The suspect left the location on foot.

1800 block of Macarthur Boulevard, NW – A commercial robbery was reported on June 9.  A suspect, armed with a handgun, entered the store and demanded money from the employee. The employee said he did not have money inside of the business, so the suspect told him to give up his wallet, which was located in the victim’s vehicle. The employee walked to his vehicle and gave the suspect his phone, keys and wallet. The suspect re-entered the business and stole six bottles of alcohol.

1300 block of Collier Road, NW – A commercial robbery was reported on June 14.  Two young men entered the store and said they wanted to buy something for their grandmother.  One suspect went to use the restroom while the other looked at a mirror.  One suspect showed two $100 bills and said he needed to get more money to purchase the mirror.  The second suspect left the restroom and made his way into one of the offices.

An employee went to approach the suspect in her office, and as they began to leave with merchandise from the office, the employee yelled for them to stop, and attempted to tackle one of them. She ended up on the floor.  She stood up, held out her hands for the second suspect to stop, and was punched in her chin, causing a laceration.  She was transported to Grady Hospital, where the skin on her chin was glued together.  The suspects took a red Dell laptop, a Macbook pro laptop, an iPhone 5 and a black leather wallet containing $10 and credit cards. A weapon was not seen.

Burglary

400 block of Peachtree Hills Avenue, NE – A residential burglary was reported on June 5. A man was seen removing a window screen, unlocking a door and going into the victim’s residence without permission. The suspect ate the victim’s food without permission. He was arrested for burglary. A witness has video on her cellphone of the incident.

400 block of Armore Drive, NE – A residential burglary was reported on June 7.  An unknown suspect pried the door of the victim’s apartment and stole a $25,000 Rolex watch, a black Breo watch and other items.

2100 block of Garraux Road, NW – A residential burglary was reported on June 7.  An unknown suspect entered the victim’s home and stole six pieces of silver valued at $77,200.

4400 block of Roswell Road, NE – A burglary from a restaurant was reported on June 11.  A man said he left, and when he returned, he noticed the lock on a shed had been cut. He said 17 kegs of beer, 12 cases of cooking oil, two cases of glass plates and a leaf blower were stolen.

2500 block of Westminster, NW – A residential burglary was reported on June 11. A woman said she left her home, and when she returned, she noticed the front door was damaged. She said the key was on the lock inside, and it looked like the suspect broke the glass and reached in and opened the lock. She said over $10,000 worth of jewelry was stolen.

2000 block of Hatteras Way, NW – A residential burglary was reported on June 14.  A woman said she opened her garage and put items in her car, and when she returned she saw a man in the driver’s seat. She screamed, and the man took off running. She said the only thing taken was a small bag with kids’ snacks.

200 block of Lindbergh Road, NE – A residential burglary was reported on June 15. The rear window of the residence was shattered and the door slightly ajar when the victim arrived home. The man said he did not set his alarm before he left. The only item taken was a 14-karat diamond wedding ring. A class ring that was in the same drawer was still there.  All TVs, electronics and other items of value were left in the home.

Larceny

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on June 4. Two men walked in separately, but were obviously together.  The first man walked around the store while the second man asked an employee to view a watch near the entrance to the store.  The second man asked for “Rolexes,” and when told they did not sell them at the store, he pointed to a watch.  The employee pulled it from the display and handed it to the man.  The man asked the other man if he liked the watch, and handed the watch to him.  Both men ran out of the store and through an east entrance to the mall.

3500 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on June 6. Two young men entered the store and one asked to see a watch.  An associate took a diamond bezel watch, valued at $22,600, from the display and walked over to the viewing area. The suspect put the watch on his arm, looked in the mirror and said, “This watch is now mine.”  The suspects pushed the associate out of the way when they ran, and left the area in a light-colored car.

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny was reported on June 6. The suspect entered a liquor store and stole 12 bottles, with a total value of $500. There were no witnesses and there are no known suspects.

4200 block of Roswell Road, NE – A larceny from a restaurant was reported on June 7. The suspect stole the victim’s light remote control from the location, and refused to return it.

500 block of Main Street, NE – A larceny from a business was reported on June 9.  A man who works at a barber shop said his clippers went missing from a drawer overnight.

1800 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from a discount store was reported on June 11. An officer met with a unit concerning a suspicious person who appeared to be homeless, pushing a shopping cart with a computer box and printer inside. The unit said both boxes appeared to be new items with their original seals. The suspect said the items were found behind a dumpster. The officer verified that the items were stolen from a discount store and that there was video of the suspect taking the items.  The suspect was arrested.

200 block of Bennett Street, NW – A larceny was reported on June 11.  A man filled out an information card and said he was waiting for his girlfriend in the yoga class.  When the class ended, the man was still in the waiting area.  A woman said her wallet was missing, and she found it under a seat cushion with $60 gone.  The man was asked to empty his backpack, and he complied, and then left.  Later, another woman said $11 was missing from her wallet. She suspected the man took it.

2100 block of Bolton Road, NW – A larceny was reported on June 13. A man said someone stole his trash can from his residence. It is unknown who took the trash can at this time. There is no additional information.

1700 block of Peachtree Street, NW – A larceny was reported on June 14.  A woman said someone was making withdrawals from her bank account without her permission. The victim said she was told to fill out a dispute form, but a suspect went to the main office in Norcross and confessed to taking $13,311. The suspect signed a confession form and was told if the suspect returned to the location, 911 would be called.

Larceny from Auto

1300 block of Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on June 3.  An unknown suspect pried the window on the victim’s vehicle, and stole his cellphone and wallet. The man called his phone and an unidentified woman answered. When he asked where she got his phone, she said she purchased it from a discount store.

3500 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on June 5.  Someone damaged the vehicle’s door handle. An iPad, two purses, a cellphone, $10,000 cash, several credit cards and two passports were taken.

1400 block of Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on June 7.  A man said he withdrew $5,000 from the bank and placed the money in a bag in the back seat of the vehicle. He said when he returned, he noticed the door lock was damaged and $4,132 was gone.

Auto Theft

1100 block of Chattahoochee Avenue, NW – An auto theft was reported on June 5.  Someone took the victim’s vehicle.  The victim left the vehicle running with the keys in the ignition outside a gas station.  No witnesses or suspects.  The victim did not have enough information to put the vehicle in the system as stolen. The gas station does have cameras.

1st block of Blackland Road, NW – An auto theft was reported on June 7.  Someone stole a woman’s vehicle from her driveway after she left the doors unlocked and the keys under the floor mat.

3500 block of Peachtree Road, NE – An auto theft was reported on June 7.  Someone stole a woman’s vehicle from the location. The keys were left in the vehicle after it was repaired by her mechanic.
