Charges have been dropped after Jen Maquire, the co-owner of the My Sister’s Room (MSR), was arrested following a noise complaint.

Atlanta Police Department (APD) officers arrived at MSR at 1:13 a.m. on the morning of Aug, 16 after receiving a call regarding a noise complaint. According to the incident report, arresting Officer Jayden Joseph “did not hear or witness any loud music” coming from MSR or Seven Midtown, the neighboring bar, but did hear “several patrons [who] were inside [MSR] projecting their voices loudly.”

While attempting to make contact with Maguire, Officer Joseph alleged that she refused to provide identification, which led to her arrest.

In a post to Instagram on Nov. 3, Maguire said the City of Atlanta has dropped the case.

“I truly appreciate everyone who reached out and checked on me,” she wrote. “Your support has meant a lot.”

MSR has been a cornerstone of Atlanta’s LGBTQ+ landscape since it opened in 1996. The beloved lesbian bar is co-owned by Maguire and her wife, Jami Atlanta. Maguire is known in Atlanta by her stage name, Chase Daniels.
