A community meeting to discuss the recent spate of crimes in Grant Park, East Atlanta, Peoplestown, Kirkwood and Chosewood Park will be held July 10, 7:30 p.m. at Zoo Atlanta’s ARC building, according to a report in East Atlanta Patch.  Community, police and government leaders will be in attendance.

The meeting comes on the heels of another armed robbery over the weekend in East Atlanta Village, where a man walking home from popular bar, Mary’s, was robbed by three men – one allegedly carrying an AK-47 assault rifle. According to Atlanta Police incident reports, the victim was approached on Glenwood Avenue just after 2 a.m. on Sunday morning and was forced to hand over his cell phone and other valuables.
