The city of Sandy Springs is reporting that a water main break has closed Long Island Drive from Mitchell Road to Glen Errol Road.
“Crews are on the scene of a water main break at 5640 Long Island Drive,” city spokeswoman Sharon Kraun said. “The break is sizable with the road compromised. Long Island Drive from Mitchell to Glen Errol is closed at this time. There is no estimated time for reopening, although it is expected to take at least several days to make the needed repairs.”
Heavy rain has taken a toll on the city’s infrastructure in recent weeks. A partial dam breach in June forced the evacuation of residents from The Falls at Sandy Springs Apartments.
Recent heavy rains also forced the closure of a portion of Lake Forrest Drive.
