Applications are currently open for the City of Tucker’s inaugural Tucker Youth Council. The group of high school students will help the city create projects and community activities and assist in the municipal decision-making process.
“The creation of a youth council has been a dream of mine for a while now,” Sonja Szubski, the communications director for the City of Tucker, said. “Teaming up with Parks and Recreation was a logical step and is really what made this possible. I hope our high schoolers are as excited as we are to get started.”
The Youth Council, approved by the City Council in May, will include 14 sophomores, juniors, and seniors who will meet monthly from September 2026 to May 2027. Participants must be in their sophomore through senior years of high school and reside within the City of Tucker.

Applicants have until August 19 to submit their applications. Once applications are reviewed, a panel of city staff will conduct interviews in late August and early September to select the cohort before the kickoff meeting Sept. 16. The Youth Council will continue to meet the third Wednesday of each month through April and may attend an optional end-of-year celebration in May.
