KirklandThe suspected ringleader of ATM thefts around the city and the murder of a club owner was taken into custody this morning in Zone 3, according to a report from the Atlanta Police Department.

The  department’s Fugitive Unit, FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and members of the US Marshals confirmed that Johnathan Jamal Kirkland, 23, was at a home on Redford Drive in southeast Atlanta.  Kirkland was wanted on murder, robbery and aggravated assault warrants. Kirkland is accused of fatally shooting Amin Bouchelaghem at Dejá Vu Sports Bar and Lounge on the night of Dec. 30.

Kirkland and his girlfriend were observed entering the residence and a search warrant was obtained. Since Kirkland had a violent history and made threats against police, APD SWAT responded and took Kirkland into custody without incident. Two other males in the residence were detained and taken to APD headquarters for questioning by Homicide and Gang Unit.

  1. It’s people like this that made me get security cameras for my home. With these kinds of career criminal running up and down I really don’t know what the world is coming to. Why rob somebody really? Thank God for a place like Southern Circuits where I could have gotten those cameras.
