From police reports dated March 9 through 22.

The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Rape

1700 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE – A rape was reported on March 18. A man approached a homeless woman in a homeless hang-out location. The suspect took off the woman’s pants and attacked her. Her boyfriend intervened. The suspect took off running.

Assault

2700 block of Defoors Ferry Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on March 15. Two men were shot when they answered a knock at their door. One man was unconscious, shot in the leg/groin area and transported to Grady Hospital. The other was shot in his lower leg, near his ankle, and transported to Scottish Rite Hospital. The witness said one victim threatened the suspect with a gun during an altercation earlier at a party. The witness (the victim’s mother) received a call saying the suspect might be coming to the apartment and to call police. Shortly after, there was a knock at the door. A medium-size revolver was lying on the floor, in the living room, near the staircase. Two spent shell casings were found just outside the door.

2700 block of Defoors Ferry Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on March 15. A woman said she said something to her boyfriend that she shouldn’t have, and he struck her with an open and closed fist, and a metal pole. She was transported to Grady Hospital in stable condition with several visible injuries to her face.

1900 block of Brantley Walk, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on March 15. It was a husband-wife dispute. The husband choked and put a knife to his wife’s throat. Grady responded to the scene.

4600 block of Wieuca Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on March 16. After going to a bar, a woman went home with a man she was dating. She said that while in the suspect’s bedroom, he suddenly opened a drawer that had a knife still inside and accused her of being a prostitute. He said “You’ll be lucky to get out of here alive,” and also sent her a text message about her being in “bad trouble.” When she reported the incident at the precinct, she was told how to obtain a restraining order, but seemed hesitant to pursue criminal charges.

1800 block of Walthall Drive, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on March 21. A cab driver said he was attacked by the arrestee. He said the man grabbed his seatbelt and pulled it tight across his neck and began choking him. While choking the cab driver, the suspect also began beating him in the head with his wallet. The cab driver had to bite the suspect’s finger so he would let go of the seat belt.

Robbery

2300 block of Marietta Boulevard, NW – A pedestrian robbery was reported on March 9. A unit was dispatched to a person shot call and was flagged down by the victim, who was shot on his right side, just above his hip. There was also a driver in the black Audi SUV. The victim and driver left the scene and went to Crawford Long Hospital; the victim was transported to Grady Hospital.

1700 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A pedestrian robbery was reported on March 11. A man was seen pushing a woman against a vehicle in the parking lot, and yelling that she wanted to get him locked up. He punched her in the face, slammed her on the ground and took her cellphone because he was upset over a recent trip she took. Her cellphone was recovered from his underwear.

2400 block of Camellia Lane, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on March 12. Someone chased a man down the hallway, shot him in his right leg three times, then stole his watch and cash. The victim was transported to Piedmont Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

1700 block of Zadie Street, NW – A pedestrian robbery was reported on March 21. A woman met a man on Marietta Boulevard who agreed to drive her to New Orleans. He took her wallet out of her backpack, and pushed her out of the vehicle when he turned west on Carroll Drive. She sustained a broken leg/ankle and was transported to Atlanta Medical.

Burglary

4300 block of Harris Valley Road, NW – A residential burglary was reported on March 10. The victim received a phone call from the alarm company advising of a house alarm. The victim figured it was a false alarm and had the alarm company cancel the call to the police. The victim returned home and found a glass back door broken. Various property was stolen, including jewelry and silverware.

1900 block of Main Street, NW – A residential burglary was reported on March 13. The side and outer burglar bar doors were found unlocked. Coins were removed from a small bucket kept on top of the refrigerator, and two Bulova watches were taken from the master bedroom.

1400 block of Garmon Ferry Road, NW – A residential burglary was reported on March 16. No signs of forced entry. Cash and three rings were noticed missing from a locked safe. The safe has a key pad entry and key override, but no one except the victim knows the combination. The safe was not damaged, but was not in the location where the victim thought she hid it. Video cameras that were still in a box were missing out of the bedroom. The woman said that on nice days, she leaves the rear sliding door open or unlocked for the dogs and three other people to come and go on a regular basis.

2500 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A commercial burglary was reported on March 18. Three or four suspects used a hammer and broke a door/window to the store. The suspects stole electronics, and sped away in a silver Ford F-150. The incident was witnessed by a home improvement store employee from across the parking lot. An officer found the abandoned vehicle on Buford Highway with various electronics inside.

Larceny

900 block of Canterbury Road, NE – A larceny was reported on March 9. A man said a woman known as Sicily (nicknamed “Cinnamon”) spent the night with him, and when he woke up the next morning, he realized his Rolex and another watch were missing. He said when he contacted the suspect and confronted her about the theft, she replied, “What are you going to do about it?” He believes she lives at a hotel off of Fulton Industrial Boulevard. He also believes she got into his PayPal account and facilitated a fraudulent online transfer to the hotel where she stays.

2500 block of Bolton Road, NW – A larceny was reported on March 10. Two men carrying black trash bags entered the store, bypassed the counter, and took an unknown number of cigarette cartons. Both fled on foot. Neither man threatened the employee with a weapon.

100 block of Collier Road, NW – A larceny from a business was reported on March 11. A man said that lumber worth about $8,000 was stolen from a construction site. There is no surveillance camera or witness at the location.

900 block of E. Paces Ferry Road, NE – A larceny from a business was reported on March 11. A man noticed his laptop was missing from his office. He said a man walked in, said he needed a criminal lawyer, and was given a referral. The victim thought this was odd, since they do not get walk-ins.

2400 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from a business was reported on March 12. An unknown suspect stole $70,000 worth of construction equipment from the site overnight.

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on March 13. The suspect took between 50 and 60 panties.

3700 block of Paces Valley Road, NW – A larceny from a residence was reported on March 15. Two brass lion statues were taken from the bottom of the victim’s driveway.

Larceny from Auto

2000 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on March 9. The rear passenger window was broken. A bag of sterling silver jewelry, inside a closed box underneath a jacket, was taken from behind the rear passenger seat. The victim owns a fashion warehouse and believes he may have been followed from Cobb Galleria.

2300 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on March 12. The rear passenger window was broken. A Blackberry, miscellaneous makeup and possibly a case of water were taken.

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on March 14. The rear right passenger window was broken. Two shot guns, ammunition and a bag of clothes were taken. The items were found under a stairwell across from there the vehicle was parked, where it appeared someone had been sleeping.

1900 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from an auto at a restaurant was reported on March 15. The rear passenger window was broken. A laptop, computer bag, headphones, army uniforms, iPad and medication were taken.

Auto Theft

4000 block of Noble Creek Drive, NW – An auto theft was reported on March 10. A white 1992 Chevy Astro van was taken from the parking lot at the location. The vehicle’s title and bill of sale were inside at the time of the theft. The vehicle will be added to the system pending proof of ownership.
