Update, Thursday, May 29
Last night’s (Wednesday’s) work described below was cancelled due to rain. Weather permitting, it will occur overnight, Thursday, May 29; the southbound work will occur during the same overnight hours Friday, again contingent upon weather.
Original post, Wednesday, May 28:
Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation will shift travel lanes overnight on Wednesday and Thursday, May 28 and 29, to allow for the demolition and removal of the final standing components of the former toll plaza.
Wednesday’s lane shift will be on the three GA 400 northbound lanes, which will be shifted to the right of the remaining northbound toll plaza structure; the new lane configuration will be in place for the Thursday morning commute. Thursday night, a similar lane shift and restriping will occur on the three southbound lanes, with the new configuration in place by Friday morning’s commute.
The new configurations will continue to provide three travel lanes in each direction. Upon completion of the demolition in approximately two months, lanes again will be shifted into their permanent configuration.
