bio_kenny_leonDirector and founder of Atlanta’s True Colors Theatre Company has won his first Tony Award for directing the Broadway revival of the classic “A Raisin  in the Sun.”

While Leon was obviously excited to win, he was disappointed that his leading man, Denzel Washington, lost to Bryan Cranston. Leon opened his speech by chanting, “Denzel, Denzel, Denzel.” In the media room after his win, Leon said “Denzel was snubbed.” However, Leon was buoyed when Sophie Okonedo won best featured actress in a play for “Raisin.”

Leon also closed out the evening on a high note when “A Raisin in the Sun” won the Tony for best revival of a play.
