A pedestrian injured in an accident that killed another pedestrian on Buford Highway June 22  has been identified as Armando Segura-Chaves, 35, who remains hospitalized. Investigators are working to confirm the identity of the person who was killed.

According to the Brookhaven Police Department, officers responded to Buford Highway near Briarwood Road Sunday, June 22, at about 3:05 a.m. One pedestrian was found dead on the scene while the other was transported to Grady Hospital in critical condition.

The accident investigation revealed that the vehicle involved was traveling south on Buford Highway when the two pedestrians “darted” in front of the vehicle from the east side of the roadway. Neither the driver nor passenger suffered any injuries.

Accident investigators determined that the two pedestrians described as Hispanic males were leaving a nightclub establishmentwhen they were struck by the vehicle. Both pedestrians were believed to be under the influence of alcohol and crossing the roadway illegally. The driver of the vehicle was not found to be at fault.
