Various cities in the metro area are ready to host National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5. Organized by the National Association of Town Watch, National Night Out encourages communities to partner with local law enforcement to increase crime prevention awareness.

The Sandy Springs Police Department is teaming with Target to host its event from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hammond Park. The free event will include refreshments, fire trucks and police cars, car safety seat checks and Neighborhood Watch information. Parking will be available in the lower lot off Hammond Drive.

The Dunwoody Police Department LOCATION CHANGE: Walmart Supercenter parking lot, 4725 Ashford Dunwoody Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338. Free food will be provided and Dunwoody Police will have a patrol car, Segway, and SWAT vehicle on display from 6 to 8 p.m. DeKalb County Fire and 15 local businesses and groups will have booths. More than 15 local businesses and organizations will be on hand with displays, booths and samples. Free food, a bounce house for children and possibly a Watermelon eating contest! The Brookhaven Police Department will offer food, music, activities and more from 7 to 9 p.m. at Blackburn Park.
