Atlanta police have arrested an 18-year-old man who they believe is the so-called ‘Virginia Highland flasher’, according to a report from our media affiliate CBS46. Jake Barrineau,18, was arrested Friday and charged him with public indecency. Last month, a jogger told police she was running and saw a man in a minivan exposing himself to children playing at Orme Park.
The High Museum of Art announced that Michael E. Shapiro will step down next summer from his position as the Nancy and Holcombe T. Green, Jr. Director. Shapiro will leave the museum after 15 years as director and two decades as part of the High’s leadership team. Throughout his tenure, Shapiro has overseen unprecedented growth of the museum’s collections and spearheaded the completion of a 177,000-square-foot expansion by Renzo Piano. Shapiro’s last day as director will be July 31, 2015. The Board of Directors of the High is forming a committee to conduct a national and international search for the museum’s next director.
Students who run Georgia State University’s radio station, WRAS (Album 88), met Tuesday for the first time with Georgia Public Broadcasting CEO Teya Ryan and members of GSU’s administration to discuss the changes implemented on June 29 which resulted in GPB controlling WRAS’s daytime broadcast signal. The students were hoping to get some of the daytime and weekend hours returned to music programming as the station’s ratings and rankings have plummeted. Ryan wasn’t biting.
