A 43-year-old building near the intersection of North Druid Hills Road and Interstate 85 in DeKalb County was imploded Saturday morning to cheers from onlookers. According to our media affiliate CBS46, the old Executive Park Hotel was demolished in a controlled implosion around 7 a.m.

The structure was built as a hotel, and then became a training facility for BellSouth employees. The new owner of the property, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, does not have a need for the building and has opted to bring it down before deciding how best to use the land.
