
Former Georgia Gov. Carl E. Sanders, Sr. died Sunday at age 89. Before holding the governor’s office for one term beginning in 1963, Sanders was a lawyer, senator and proponent of desegregating Georgia’s schools.
Atlanta is poised to ask the Atlanta Regional Commission to help fund a $200,000 study intended to help guide the redevelopment of neighborhoods surrounding Turner Field. According to the Saporta Report, the ARC would provide $160,000 and the city’s match of $40,000 would be provided by the city and by Invest Atlanta, the city’s development arm, according to legislation that’s due to be adopted today by the Atlanta City Council.
Atlanta Habitat for Humanity has opened its new ReStore, a nonprofit home improvement outlet store and donation center, at 271 Chester Ave. at the corner of Memorial Drive.
