police-siren1UPDATE: Two police officers were shot Friday morning at Colony Ridge apartments near Glenwood Road and Austin Drive in Decatur. According to the AJC, an additional suspect was shot during the incident, which occurred just before 7 a.m. Police said he officers were shot with a high-powered rifle after they responded to a home invasion at the apartment complex. The officers were taken to Atlanta Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. A manhunt for a second suspect recently ended when police found him hiding in a wooded area.

Georgia Tech police have arrested a man they believe groped two female students earlier this week, according to our media affiliate CBS46. John Perry Smith, 43, of Bremen was arrested on two misdemeanor charges of sexual battery. Both incidents happened on Monday, Dec 8, within minutes of each other. A female student walking on Techwood Drive between 3rd and 4th Streets said a man groped her after pretending to fall into her on a stairwell. A short time later, the same man walked up behind a female student behind Brittain Dining Hall, reached up her skirt, groped her and then ran off.

A Kirkwood man returning home from work on the evening of Dec. 10 was beaten and robbed by two men, according to a report at Decaturish. According to Atlanta Police, the victim arrived at his home in the 300 block of Leland Terrace Northeast. He had just gotten out of his vehicle and was on his front porch when two men attacked him.
