Atlanta Police Chief George Turner updated this media today after Wednesday night’s officer-involved shooting on McDaniel Street in southwest Atlanta.

Around 7 p.m., officers saw Yuric J. Ussey, 22, walking down the middle of McDaniel Street. When the officers, identified as Sean Fagan and Jimmy Alvaran, approached Ussey in their patrol car, he ran. During the pursuit, Turner said Ussey pointed a gun at officers. Both officers fired several shots, wounding Ussey, who is in stable condition at Grady Hospital.

Ussey is charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a peace officer, two counts of obstruction of law enforcement officer, possession of firearm during commission of a felony, possession of firearm of first offender probationer, and carrying weapon without a license. Police said Ussey is on probation for a theft by receiving stolen property charge.
