Atlanta Public Schools has filed suit against the city over the deeds for four vacant school properties, according to a report in Creative Loafing. The city board of education wants the city to release the deeds for George Adair School in Adair Park, Arkwright Elementary School in Venetian Hills, Milton Avenue Elementary in Chosewood Park and Rosalie Wright Elementary School in Florida Heights. Mayor Kasim Reed has refused to surrender the deeds, stating they are part of the ongoing negotiations between the city and APS to resolve the payment of tax revenue from the Atlanta BeltLine.

A battle is brewing over the future of  Turner Field after Mayor Kasim Reed told the AJC last week that he doesn’t need approval from the Atlanta City Council or Fulton County Commission to make a deal after the Braves depart for their new home in Cobb. Reed said that the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority can execute the sale of Turner Field, and that it won’t require a public bidding process or sign-off from local legislative bodies.

Independent radio station WRFG 89.3 FM, based in Little Five Points, is in danger of going silent after more than 40 years on the air. The station owes rent on the broadcast tower space it leases, plus there is $40,000 in additional debt. If you would like to make a donation, send a check to WRFG at 1083 Austin Avenue NE, Atlanta 30307, or you can pay securely by credit card at wrfg.org. Donations are 100 percent  tax deductible.
