The Atlanta Police Department has arrested five men they believe are responsible for a number of armed, violent robberies in Midtown, including a Tuesday night incident on 8th Street that was caught on several home surveillance cameras.
According to a report at the AJC, police caught the five men in a stolen car at a gas station on 6th Street. They’re charged in two robberies earlier this week, and likely will be looking at additional charges in other cases. Police did not identify the five suspects.
Mayor Kasim Reed vowed last fall to crack down on crime in Midtown, which has seen a spike in robberies in the past year. Residents along 8th Street are considering surveillance cameras for every home and chipping in to buy neighborhood surveillance cameras, according to CBS46.
