1. Out “Empire” star Jussie Smollett nabbed several NAACP Image Awards Thursday night, with Queen Latifah also picking one up for her role as bisexual blues singer Bessie Smith in HBO’s “Bessie.” Check out the full list of winners here.

4. When a California school board voted against changing the dress code at a local high school to allow boys to wear long hair and earrings, the students showed up to school in style.
