waterUpdate: As of Monday, May 2, the boil water advisory for the city had been lifted except for the 745 block of Memorial Drive. The advisory continues until 5 p.m.

Atlanta Watershed said electrical issues caused by severe storms that passed through the area affected two pumping stations causing a massive water outage and low pressure issue across the city on Saturday evening. The outages and low pressure lasted for more than an hour, but by 9:30 p.m. neighborhoods were reporting the return of water and pressure. Just after 10 p.m., Atlanta Watershed issued a 24-hour boil water advisory for Downtown Atlanta to the south, including South Fulton County, west to the West End and east to Moreland Avenue. Affected areas included Cabbagetown, Edgewood, Old Fourth Ward, West End, Peoplestown, Reynoldstown, Mechanicsville, Summerhill and Edgewood.

Social media lit up around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday with reports of water outages or low pressure in neighborhoods around Atlanta. Residents and businesses in Downtown, West End, Midtown, Virginia-Highland, Inman Park, Old Fourth Ward, Candler Park, Reynoldstown, East Atlanta Village, Kirkwood and Lake Claire  reported on Twitter and Reddit that they were having water issues. There were also been reports of no water or low pressure at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Thunderstorms rolled through the area just prior to the reported outages.

Some restaurants and businesses in the affected neighborhoods closed early because of the outage and pressure issue.

  1. Since not everyone knows all the street names (which change semi-randomly anyway), why is no one apparently able to post a blasted MAP?
