Atlanta Police have confirmed that the murder victim found inside his car at the intersection of Boulevard and Rankin Street in the Old Fourth Ward on June 1 is the husband of Georgia’s Assistant Attorney General.
The body of Shahriar Zolfghari, 34, was found with bullet wounds to his chest at around 1 a.m. A pedestrian found Zolfghari in his car after noticing he did go through the intersection at the green light. He was rushed down the street to Atlanta Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Local media reports said Zolfghari was driving for ride share company Lyft, but police reports show there was no signs of robbery. Police have requested fare records from Lyft to see if he had a passenger before the incident.
Zolfghari’s wife is Camila Wright, who was appointed as assistant attorney general in 2014 and is prosecutor for the state’s human trafficking cases.
