Today, June 14, was the deadline given by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for the city to fix issues with the embattled Atlanta Streetcar or face closure.
According to a report at the AJC, the city and MARTA have until 5 p.m. today to submit a plan to address 60 outstanding problems ranging from poor maintenance procedures and inadequate staffing to a failure to properly investigate accidents.
However, it may take the GDOT up to 10 days to respond to the plan before an actual shutdown of the system would occur.
