Sandy Springs Police arrested three Riverwood High School students Thursday, Aug. 11, for allegedly waving guns at a road crew.

The three 17-year-olds were taken into custody. It is the policy of the Sandy Springs Reporter to not publish the names of juvenile suspects.

At about 1 p.m. on Aug. 11, witnesses reported seeing a silver car drive though the intersection at Raider Drive and Powers ferry Road several times with the occupants waving two guns at the road crew working on a construction site at the location.

Several police units responded to the general area searching for the vehicle and a patrol officer located a car matching the description including, the occupants, and conducted a felony stop on Powers Ferry only yards away from Raider Drive where the complaint originated, said Sgt. Forrest Bohannon.

“Minutes after the three suspects were in custody, the same car and occupant description was given on an incident that occurred several minutes prior, where two shots were fired at or near the complainant on River Edge Parkway, a short distance from the original location,” Bohannon said.

Two weapons were recovered from the suspects’ silver 2005 Honda.
