This holiday season always brings back memories of my grandparents’ house. Without fail each year my grandmother, Ouida, would break out her holiday plates and serving dishes for our family meals, and her living room would transform into a winter wonderland of miniature proportions.

She had an extensive collection of porcelain snow-capped buildings that lit up with a soft glow when plugged in, all clustered together atop fluffy fake snow on side tables. I can recall a few that moved, tiny figurines dancing gracefully across a mirrored frozen lake, their tiny world so pure and jovial, while my uncle’s train set wound lazily around the base of the tree and my grandfather’s Christmas albums played in the background.

For me, one of the things that brings me back to the innocence of my youth is sweets. Luckily, Intown has an abundance of local shops that offer everything from candy and cupcakes to pastries and even a pie in a jar! In other words, treat yourself. ‘Tis the season, after all!
