Jeffrey Lamar Williams, better known as Atlanta rapper Young Thug, was arrested in Brookhaven Sept. 24 and faces charges of drug possession and a weapons violation.

Williams is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of Xanax, possession of codeine, possession of ecstasy and two charges of possession of a firearm, according to Officer Carlos Nino.

According to a police report, an officer noticed a Mercdes Benz with dark tinted windows on Clairmont Road at the intersection of Airport Road near PDK Airport about 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24.

The officer stopped the vehicle, being driven by Williams, because the windows’ tint appeared darker than the legal limit. A tint meter was used and found the tint to be below the legal limit, the report states.

“A search of the vehicle was conducted based on the plain smell of marijuana permeating from within the vehicle,” the report states. The officer notes in the report that two firearms, nearly $50,000 in cash and various narcotics were found during the search.

Two people with Williams were also arrested — Cedric Lamont Jones faces the same charges as Williams while Sergio Giavonni Kitchens faces a charge of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, according to jail records.

Williams was booked at the DeKalb County Jail but has bonded out.
