A veteran unhappy with the U.S. Veterans Administration set himself on fire outside the state Capitol in Downtown on Tuesday, according to report in the AJC.

About 10:45 a.m., the 58-year-old Air Force veteran from Mableton emerged from a car on Washington Street and stepped toward Georgia State Patrol officers. According to officers, the veteran was strapped with incendiary devices and firecrackers and doused himself with a flammable liquid.

The man was able to set himself on fire before officers could use a fire extinguisher to douse the flames. The veteran was rushed to Grady Hospital with burns on 80 to 90 percent of his body.
