The Atlanta Board of Education will hold a final public meeting on the districts’s tax rates for 2019 on July 23 at 6 p.m. at Atlanta Public Schools Center for Learning and Leadership,  130 Trinity Avenue. To provide some tax relief for property owners in the district, APS is proposing a rollback of 1.0 mill for this year, from 21.740 to 20.740 mills, which means the owner of a $300,000 home would pay approximately $141.93.

Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) will host their semi-annual Town Hall meeting on Thursday, July 26 at The Masquerade’s Heaven venue at Underground Atlanta, 50 Lower Alabama Street SW. Beginning at 7:30 a.m., attendees will have the opportunity to network over coffee with key Downtown stakeholders, residents and business owners prior to the 8 a.m. program. There will be a public safety briefing from APD Chief Erika Shields and updates on Super Bowl preparations, Centennial Park renovations and MARTA’s proposed expansion. Visit http://bit.ly/captownhall for more details and to register for the meeting.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium will – at last – celebrate the completion of its retractable roof on July 25 at a press conference. The roof, which opens and closes like a camera shutter, has been mostly closed since the stadium opened last year as engineers worked out design issues.
