The city’s Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) on June 6 shot down an appeal by Midtown stakeholders opposed to two massive digital billboards on the side of and atop a building at 1655 Peachtree Street in Midtown. The empty building is a well-known landmark to drivers on the Downtown Connector because of the giant peach on its roof. One of the billboards takes up the entire north face of the building, while another is underneath the peach. Tazmedia Group said the billboards were legal, but stakeholders, including Midtown Alliance, may take the issue to court. Curbed Atlanta has more at this link.
A woman who struck and killed a man riding a Lime e-scooter last month outside the West Lake MARTA station has now been charged with misdemeanor second-degree homicide by vehicle and speeding in connection with the crash, according to a report in the AJC. Narcory Wright, who is also facing a number of other charges unrelated to the crash, turned herself into Atlanta police on Thursday. Eric Amis Jr., 20, was on his way home from work when he was hit, becoming city’s first e-scooter death.
