In a highly anticipated Class A-Division I Boys Championship game, Mount Vernon secured its first state title in school history by defeating Paideia 48-40 in Macon, GA.

The teams played for the third time this season, having previously split their regular-season series.

Mount Vernon’s offense was led by Xavier Shegog with 18 points and seven rebounds. Three Mount Vernon players scored in double figures, as Paideia struggled to find consistent scoring beyond Tristan Mitchell, who led his team with 16 points.
