UPDATE: The home is now under contract at $1,275,000 to a young couple who are first-time homebuyers, according to Ken Covers with Engel & Völkers Atlanta.

Original Story

The historic Morningside home of former Atlanta Mayor William B. Hartsfield is now on the market for $1,295,000.

Hartsfield, whose name will be familiar to anyone flying out of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, lived at the home at 637 East Pelham Road during his tenure as mayor from 1942 to 1961.

Hartsfield was the city’s longest-serving mayor with six terms running from 1937 to 1961.

The 2,826-square-foot Tudor home was built in 1940 and features antique craftsmanship with high ceilings, spacious rooms, and plenty of natural light, especially in the morning.

The home has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and sits on a 0.33-acre lot.

Ken Covers with Engel & Völkers Atlanta is managing the sale of the home.
