Brookhaven Police and DeKalb County Fire and Rescue are on the scene at Brookhaven’s new city ball construction site at Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road where a construction worker was injured.

Brookhaven officers self-dispatched to the city hall construction site after hearing an incoming Live911 call in reference to a construction worker trapped in a hole that was being excavated.

The caller said the man was pinned inside the hole by a trench box that was in place to prevent catastrophic collapses and protect those working on the hole, according to the city of Brookhaven.

The new city hall site is adjacent to the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe MARTA station but does not appear to have interrupted service.

DeKalb County Fire responded to the scene and successfully removed the male from the hole.  At this time, the only known injury is a broken leg.

The male was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
