Create Dunwoody has appointed Rosemary Watts as its executive director and has added three new members to its board of directors. 

According to a release, Create Dunwoody – funded by the City of Dunwoody, Discover Dunwoody, and the Dunwoody Development Authority – is an alliance to advance commerce and community through arts and culture. 

She replaces its first executive director, Jennifer Long, who was appointed to the position last March. Create Dunwoody officials said Long has moved onto other opportunities.

Watts previously served as Dunwoody’s Business and Cultural Development Manager. 

“We are thrilled to welcome Rosemary to our team,” Terri Julian Polk, Board President at Create Dunwoody, said in the release.  “Her community connections and economic development expertise align perfectly with Create Dunwoody’s values and objectives. We are confident that her leadership will propel us to new heights and reinforce our mission to foster a vibrant and thriving arts and culture scene as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth in Dunwoody.”

Watts is a graduate of Georgetown University with a bachelor’s degree in Chinese and International Business.  She earned her MBA in Computer/Information Technology Administration and Marketing from Georgia Institute of Technology.  

Watts has lived in Dunwoody 28 years and is the Dunwoody Woman’s Club Evening Chair, and Perimeter Chamber, OCA-Atlanta, and NAAAP-Atlanta.

Create Dunwoody also welcomed three more members to its board of directors –  Quionna Allen – CEO, Caldwell Allen Consulting, a Human Resources Strategic Consultancy, Linda Pozzobon – Founder, OHBoN Art Company, Custom Artwork & Business Gifts and Devika Rao – President & CEO, 23 East Group, a Marketing & Communications Agency.

“We are honored to have Quionna, Devika, and Linda join our board of directors,” Polk said. “Their insights and leadership will be instrumental in driving our mission forward and achieving our long-term goals.”

Create Dunwoody is a nonprofit organization that aims to foster a vibrant and thriving arts and culture scene as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth in the city of Dunwoody.

Upcoming Create Dunwoody events include the 2024 Dunwoody Scarecrow Showdown in the Greater Village Area from October 1-31. Businesses who place a creative scarecrow in front of their business can win the contest by gathering the most votes. Any vendor wanting to participate can register here.

Create Dunwoody is also the driving force behind the second annual Diwali in Dunwoody Celebration, a three-day event that showcases the Festival of Lights, one of the most significant cultural events for the South Asian community. 

The events will be held in the city from October 17 – 19 at the Dunwoody Nature Center and Spruill Center for the Arts Education Center offering an immersive experience to showcase the essence of Diwali and the city’s community landmarks. More information can be found here.
