The continuation of the Georgia Department of Transportation’s massive project at North Druid Hills Road and I-85 is bringing land closures to the Brookhaven throughway Nov. 7-10.
Designed to reduce crash frequency and congestion, GDOT’s project includes a displaced left turn for vehicles headed westbound on North Druid Hills Road to I-85 southbound, an additional bridge over I-85, and a braided ramp from the I-85 northbound off-ramp to the access road.
A displaced turn allows left-turning vehicles and through traffic to travel simultaneously through an intersection, eliminating left-turns at the main intersection. A similar model can be found at Ashford Dunwoody Road and I-285.

Overnight closures through Saturday, Nov. 9 include three right lanes on I-85 North at North Druid Hills Road, lanes on North Druid Hills Road eastbound and westbound, and lanes on Frontage Road.
GDOT has published a detour map for motorists accessing I-85 northbound and southbound from North Druid Hills Road.
Drivers should expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce speeds while traveling through work zones. More information can be found by calling 511, visiting www.511ga.org, or downloading the Georgia 511 app.
