Several suspects are in custody after a high-speed chase through Brookhaven, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Doraville and Peachtree Corners wherein the driver’s car exceeded more than 100 miles per hour.
The chase ended at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near the Dunwoody city limits, according to Dunwoody Sgt. Michael Cheek, the department’s public information officer.
“We were involved in a vehicle pursuit regarding an aggravated assault that occurred in unincorporated Dekalb County,” Cheek said. “The pursuit originated in Brookhaven, went back into unincorporated DeKalb and DeKalb Police pursued the vehicle into the City of Dunwoody.”
After Dunwoody officers located the suspects’s vehicle, a black Nissan SUV, on Ashford Dunwoody Road, the pursuit continued along residential streets, he said, with the suspect’s vehicle causing a crash at Mount Vernon Road near Oxford Chase Way.
“We continued to pursue the vehicle into Sandy Springs, then into Gwinnett County and back into Doraville where the vehicle crashed within the city limits of Doraville on Peachtree Industrial Blvd, ending the pursuit,” Cheek said.
Several juveniles were allegedly taken into custody, according to officials, but no information has been given on the charges levied against them. The Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation, assisted by law enforcement from the neighboring jurisdictions.
According to witnesses, the 30-minute chase caused several ancillary accidents along the way. A DeKalb EMS unit was also spotted on Mt. Vernon trailing behind the deluge of police cars.
