Sandy Springs’ District 2 Council member Melody Kelley announced on June 25 that she will seek a second term on the city council.

Kelley will face Lauren Locke in the nonpartisan election on Nov. 4.

“I’m running for re-election to continue fighting for public safety, protecting property values, promoting fiscal responsibility, and ensuring the long-term success of our North Sandy Springs neighborhoods,” Kelley said in her campaign announcement.

According to her campaign announcement, Kelley has delivered more than $90 million in public investment in north Sandy Springs.

Kelley made public safety a top priority, with completing the new Sandy Springs police headquarters and expanding street lighting throughout the community among her accomplishments.

She advocated for upgrades to public spaces like Morgan Falls Dog Park. Another accomplishment was helping to create a dedicated code enforcement division for multi-family properties, leading to a 400 percent increase in inspections and improved living conditions for many residents.

Kelley was also instrumental in advancing major infrastructure projects, including the Springway Trail and the upcoming Roswell Road North Boulevard redesign. These projects will improve mobility, public safety, and the quality of life in the North End.

According to the campaign announcement, what sets Kelley apart is a track record of listening to her constituents and delivering for the district. She wants to continue working with her colleagues on the council to deliver results people can see and feel in their daily lives.

She remains committed to building a safer, thriving community for all residents.

Kelley is a mom, a chemistry professor at Georgia State University, and a longtime civic leader. Voters can learn more about Kelley and her campaign online.
