Redistricting Changes

In October 2022 the Atlanta City Council approved legislation 22-O-1700  amending the City’s Charter to adopt a new map of Council districts following the 2020 census.

Every decade after a new census, the Council redraws its legislative districts so that each district is substantially equal in population. This redistricting process helps ensure that each Council member represents relatively the same number of constituents.

In accordance with OCGA § 36-35-4.1(e) the reapportionment of the districts is effective for the 2025 Municipal Election.

In 2024, the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections mailed out redistricting cards to all City of Atlanta residents with any updated polling precinct changes.
