The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation will host its 41st annual Preservation Gala, “An Oasis of Glamour,” on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. at historic Greystone in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park.
The mid-century, Palm Springs-inspired event will feature cocktails, live entertainment, dancing and culinary edibles, according to a release from the Georgia Trust.
Event chair Erik LaValle said he is planning an unforgettable night to honor outstanding preservationists Sandy and Tom Gay of Gay Construction for their longtime dedication to historic preservation in Georgia.

Located in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park, Greystone is a venue that was originally built in 1926 as a bathhouse for swimmers in Lake Clara Meer. Named for its distinctive granite walls, the building stood as a beloved community landmark for decades.
Rehabilitated in 2009 by the Piedmont Park Conservancy in partnership with Gay Construction, the $41.2 million project created a 9,000-square-foot LEED-certified event venue and the Piedmont Park Aquatic Center, the release said.
Founded in 1973, the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation works for the preservation and revitalization of Georgia’s diverse historic resources and advocates their appreciation, protection and use.
The trust, according to the release, generates community revitalization by finding buyers for endangered properties and raises awareness of other endangered historic resources through an annual listing of Georgia’s “Places in Peril.”
It offers a variety of educational programs for adults and children, provides technical assistance to property owners and historic communities, advocates for funding, tax incentives and other laws aiding preservation efforts, and manages two house museums in Atlanta, Rhodes Hall, and Macon, Hay House.
The Preservation Gala is the Georgia Trust’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from the event will go directly to the trust’s mission to reuse, reinvest and revitalize Georgia’s historic places.
Tickets are $250 for Georgia Trust members, $350 for non-members (includes membership to the Trust), and $150 for guests 45 and under. To purchase tickets, visit the trust’s website or call 404-885-7812.
