Motorists heading to the City Springs underground parking garage will need to cope with shifting availability of parking spaces and a closure of the west entrance beginning on Sept. 22 as preventive maintenance is conducted.
The west entrance at 6300 Blue Stone Road will close Monday through Thursday, beginning on Monday, Sept. 22 and lasting two to three weeks, according to a news release. The entrance will be closed during construction hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Motorists who normally use the west entrance can access the parking garage via the east entrance at 230 Mount Vernon Highway NE.
Though the parking garage entrance closure will end after a few weeks, the preventive maintenance will continue through early December. The release said that during this time, the availability of underground parking spaces will vary.
Rough Draft Atlanta reported that the Sandy Springs City Council awarded a $599,407 contract to Structural Restoration Inc. during its July 15 meeting to make repairs to the underground parking garage.
Dave Wells, the city’s director of Facilities/Capital Construction and Building Operations, told the city council at its meeting that a consultant hired in 2024 assessed the conditions of the parking garage. Walter P. Moore and Associates found signs of deterioration, including concrete cracking, water infiltration, and failed expansion joints.
