Professor Greg Jackson will bring his irreverent, story-driven take on American history, “The Unlikely Union,” to Sandy Springs next spring at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center’s Byers Theatre.

Jackson, the creator and host of the “History That Doesn’t Suck! podcast,” will be on stage Saturday, April 11, 2026, according to a news release. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, Sept. 29, at noon

“History without stories is forgettable. I adapted ‘History That Doesn’t Suck! for the stage for the same reason I first created the podcast: to bring important, relevant stories from the past—both well-known and forgotten—to life,” said Jackson, according to the release. “I reject the idea that history must be a dry, stuffy, ivory tower subject. Stories let us push past names and dates. Simply put, good history doesn’t have to be told in a way that sucks.”

According to the release, “History That Doesn’t Suck” launched to make history engaging and accessible. It covers the essential stories Jackson said every American should know (or may have forgotten). Each episode entertains and educates while contributing to a chronological journey from the Revolution to today. The mission is as the name states: learning history shouldn’t suck.

Jackson is a tenured associate professor of history and senior fellow in National Security Studies at Utah Valley University, the release said. He also serves as a fellow of Integrated Studies. He appears in HISTORY Channel documentaries, including “History’s Greatest of All Time with Peyton Manning,” “The Engineering That Built the World,” “How Disney Built America”, and the three-night event “Abraham Lincoln,” executive produced by Doris Kearns Goodwin and featuring former President Barack Obama.

His forthcoming book, “Been There, Done That: How Today’s Crises Are the Same As Yesteryear’s – And Can Be Overcome,” will be published by Simon & Schuster next spring.

Tickets start at $32 and can be purchased at SandySpringsPAC.com.
