📦 Microsoft donated 22.5 acres of its stalled Westside campus to the City of Atlanta for affordable housing and community resources.

✈️ The Taste of Hartsfield-Jackson is today starting at 11 a.m. with chef competitions, special guests, entertainment, and more. Event proceeds benefit Meals on Wheels. 

🏈 Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M, and Alabama topped the season’s first College Football Playoff rankings, with Georgia at No. 5 and six SEC teams in the top 12.

🎗️ Kennesaw Pride Alliance is mourning the loss of 22-year-old Marisol Payero, who died on Oct. 27. 

ELSEWHERE

✈️ A UPS cargo plane bound for Honolulu crashed shortly after takeoff from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport yesterday, killing at least three and injuring 11.

1. A shake-up at the PSC; Runoffs loom

ELECTION RESULTS FROM ACROSS THE REGION

🗳️ Here are the results from key races in metro Atlanta. Read more on our website here.

⚡️ In a historic shift, Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard unseated two Republican incumbents on Georgia’s Public Service Commission, giving Democrats their first PSC foothold in 25 years.

CITY OF ATLANTA

  • Andre Dickens cruised to reelection as Atlanta’s Mayor.
  • Marci Collier Overstreet beat Rohit Malhotra by about 2,800 votes in the race for Atlanta City Council President.
  • Kelsea Bond won City Council District 2.
  • There will be runoffs for City Council Districts 7 and 11.
  • There will be runoffs for the Atlanta Board of Education in Districts 2, 6, and 8.

SANDY SPRINGS

  • There will be a runoff for mayor between incumbent Rusty Paul and Dontaye Carter.
  • A runoff is also on tap in City Council District 4, but incumbents held their seats in Districts 1, 2, and 3. Mary Ford won District 5, and Andrew Chinsky won District 6.

OTHER LOCAL RACES

NATIONALLY

California voters approved Proposition 50, a plan to redraw five districts to favor Democrats and counter GOP-led redistricting in Texas.

Democrat Abigail Spanberger won Virginia’s gubernatorial race, flipping the office from GOP control. 

Democrat Mikie Sherrill was elected Governor of New Jersey.

In an election with record turnout, Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani was elected NYC Mayor.

2. Holiday Happenings: Lights, music, and performances kick off the festive season

🎅 The holiday season will be in full swing starting this month!

With concerts, plays, opera, visits with Santa, illuminated landscapes, and aerial theatrics under the big top with Cirque du Soleil (pictured), there will be plenty of festive events to enjoy.
