Rising ninth and tenth graders at North Springs High School gained a new opportunity to advance their careers and education with the Accelerated Career Diploma program.
Students who participate in the program can earn a high school diploma, free college credits and two professional certifications in high-demand fields such as healthcare, cybersecurity, HVAC, and welding, according to a news release.
Through a partnership with Gwinnett Technical College, students can select from three Accelerated Career Diploma (ACD) pathways. It enables them to graduate in three or four years with a chance to then enter the workforce or go to college, the release said.

“This program gives students an accelerated path to success,” said North Springs Assistant Principal Kevin Rogers, the program’s coordinator, according to the release. “They’ll graduate with confidence, real-world skills, and credentials that set them apart. They will be able to plan to go straight to the workforce in high demand, high wage roles, or pursue a college degree.”
The ACD program gives students a well-rounded high school experience. According to the release, they gain opportunities to pursue a STEAM Magnet certification, choose from 26 Advanced Placement (AP) classes, and participate in more than 60 extracurricular activities and clubs.
The program offers transportation for ACD students from their home schools to North Springs and from North Springs to Gwinnett Technical College. The release said that students from all Fulton County School attendance zones are eligible to apply.
An ACD information night will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for interested students, parents, and families. The event will take place in the school’s Media Center, 7447 Roswell Road NE, Sandy Springs.
