Atlanta Police have apprehended the gunman who shot a woman at a Downtown restaurant this morning.
The incident occurred at Summit Cafeteria at 30 Marietta St. near the Georgia State University (GSU) campus.
According to the report, GSU Police officers were already in the area and heard gunfire as it occurred. Two GSU officers observed an individual they believed to be the shooter exiting the restaurant with a firearm in hand. Officers detained the man and secured the weapon, according to the report.
The individual was later confirmed to be the shooter and was taken into custody by APD. The GSU officers provided aid to a female victim, who was transported to nearby Grady Hospital in critical condition. Police said the intended male target of the shooting was not injured.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, according to the report.
