Grammy-nominated duo The War and Treaty will perform a free concert in Decatur Square on Thursday, June 25, as part of Decatur’s World Cup WatchFest.

Decatur WatchFest opens with Atlanta rapper and OutKast member Big Boi on June 11, closing with Atlanta rock folk band The Indigo Girls on July 19.

Michael and Tanya Trotter founded The War and Treaty in 2014, winning two Americana Music Awards in 2022 and 2023, and an Emmy Award last year for their work with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. Three years ago, the couple received “Duo of the Year” nominations from both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music. The War and Treaty was also nominated for “Best New Artist” and “Best American Roots Song” at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in 2024.

“The City of Decatur is so excited to welcome The War and Treaty to Decatur,” Decatur City Manager Andrea Arnold said in a press release. “We are thrilled to have this powerhouse couple perform as part of the Decatur WatchFest ‘26 celebration.”

Arnold said the Decatur WatchFest team plans to release more details on additional concerts by local and national musical acts in the coming weeks. People can find that information online at the Decatur WatchFest website or on its social media pages.

The citywide festival will run in tandem with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, from June 11 through July 19. Expect 34 days of outdoor soccer match screenings throughout Decatur, along with a series of free concerts on non-match days.
