Springing into Tucker fun
Friday, April 17 — It’s Cathy and Katie with ourweekly newsletter on all things Tucker. There are so many fun activities happening in the next few weeks that we’ve dropped some specifics below. Let’s detail some newsy items first.
🚣 This week, Tucker celebrated the opening of Padel Highway with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the center’s Lawrenceville Highway location. Katie recently wrote a great story about this new sport.
👨🏼🎨 You can learn how to paint like Bob Ross with a workshop taught by a certified instructor, Jeremy Rogers, on April 17 from 6-9:30 p.m. at the Tucker Recreation Center. All you need is to bring a roll of paper towels, a small pack of baby wipes, a cardboard box that is large enough to carry home a 12” x 16” wet canvas, and the courage to make that first swipe on the canvas. I took this class a few years ago with a group of girlfriends, and it was so much fun.
☕️ Heads up – the Tucker Planning Commission held a meeting yesterday where it discussed two zoning changes to allow for facilities with drive-thru service. We will catch up on this in next week’s newsletter.
🌸 Have a great weekend,
Cathy and Katie

Council’s concerns about SAP
🚌 Members of the Tucker City Council addressed concerns with the Student Assignment Project (SAP), DeKalb County School District’s controversial consolidation plan, during a meeting on April 13.
The initial plan, which could change before the final proposal is presented to the school board for a vote in the fall, is to close two Tucker schools – Midvale and Brockett elementary schools – with Livsey Elementary being expanded to accommodate the hundreds of relocated students.
Erick Hofstetter, the chief operating officer of DeKalb County School District, presented updates on the SAP feedback process during Monday’s meeting and fielded questions from members of the city council about the project.
