Earth Day is Wednesday, April 22, and Tucker community members will have several opportunities to celebrate with outdoor and nature-centered events hosted by the City of Tucker and local non-profits.

On Saturday, April 18, Tucker’s Parks and Recreation department will host its monthly Perk Up With Parks event at 9 a.m. The event brings neighbors to the Tucker Recreation Center on every third Saturday to connect with the Parks and Recreation leadership team over coffee and conversations about Tucker’s parks, programs, and community spaces.

Later that afternoon, the city will host Sip-N-Stroll at Tucker Nature Preserve. Attendees will enjoy a guided walk through the park, visit a local wildflower meadow, meet beekeepers, shop for local honey, and savor wine and light refreshments. Sip-N-Stroll is free and begins at 3 p.m. Valid ID is required for wine service.

On Sunday, April 19, Tree of Learning, a Tucker-based non-profit dedicated to providing nature-based education, will host an Earth Day Extravaganza fundraiser from 2 to 4 p.m. The event is free, but tickets will be available to purchase for nature craft stations, fairy hair, kids’ tattoos, a chicken petting zoo, and more. Proceeds will go toward student financial assistance, field trips, staff training, and supplies for experiential learning. The Earth Day Extravaganza will be held at 4217 N. Park Drive.

The City of Tucker and FODAC close out the Earth Day festivities with an Electronics and HME Recycling Day on April 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will be accepting donations of gently used, working and non-working home medical equipment, electronics, and televisions. CRT monitors, tube televisions, and console TVs will not be accepted. The Electronics and HME Recycling Day will take place at the Church Street Greenspace.
